Hello, all this is my firt post on the forum. Hit up bryan beach with live shrimp in the surf, nothing but a couple nice sized sand trout. Cut a trout in half and threw out the long pole. I was hooked up to something, maybe a large stingray or rock, but knot came loose. Had bait soaking for about 30 mins. Went to get more live shrimp and headed to the jetties. Caught 16' sheepy on live shrimp and 16' flounder on cut sand trout in the channel. Nice day out, might try again in a couple of weeks.

Sorry guys for the late response. I got the shrimp from saltgrass. If you're going done 332 toward surfside, its the bait house that shaped like a boat on the left hand side. The only live bait was shrimp, the baitfish they had was all frozen. I'm thinkin of going back down to the jetties this weekend. Tight lines guys!

Went back down and fished the quintana and surfside jetties, channel side. Caught a nice seatrout and keeper smack, that spit the hook as i got her on the rocks. Also caught 3 more small smacks, 1 small flounder, and several small sandies. Bait was thick, rivers of mullet close to the rocks and saw pelicans diving into swarms of mullet in the middle of channel. Beautiful water and wind was down, surf looked like glass, but didnt feel like getting wet. Tight lines!

Mono,
I was at the Jetty's yesterday. When you catch a fish there, how do you get it up and over all the granite bolders that extend out in the water?
Just curious?
Wayne

Mornin Wayne, I haven't caught anything too big out there so I just keep my rod high and usually they just swim over the rocks on high tide, on low tide you have to flip them on the rocks to get them close to you. Biggest fish caught there were in the original report 16" flounder and sheephead so they were pretty easy to just flip on the rocks. If I get into somthing big, then I'll try and use the long net I have to try and scoop it up. Hope this helps.

2-3 weeks after Ike I hit Quintana Surf, Caught some big Croaker, then headed to the jetty and hooked 2 upper slot reds and a nice flounder on the beach side.

Chris

Good things come to those who bait.
