Saturday while fishing the colony open on lewisville, my partner and i watched a 9 year old boy back his dads truck into the lake at tower bay ramp, it got as far as the hood and was about to go under then i told him to push his truck with his boat, he pushed his truck until the front wheels were on ground. we have pictures, i will try to post them as soon as i figure out how to get them from my phone to the TFF.

charger man, get a cord to plug the phone into the computer, once the pictures are on your computer put them on photobucket.com and then you can just paste the link on TFF

My son started helping with the boat when he was 5 but I never left him in the truck he would drive the boat off the trailer and then back on when loading. To many trailers in the parking lots to let a kid park truck and trailer. He is 17 now and can do any of it comfortably.

Weekender, my thoughts exactly! What the heck was the guy doing letting a 9 yr old back a trailor down at the ramp. Not very smart! I dont let a whole lot of adults back my truck and trailor down into the water, unless I have seen them do it before and have confidence.

I will do all the backing up and just let them sit there with their foot on the break as I get out to run the boat up onto the trailer. Then I will get out and usually drive it on out as well.

There is just too much $$$$ involved to put somebody that doesnt know what they are doing behind the wheel for that sort of thing. I wouldnt even consider letting a 9 yr old back my $40k truck and $30k skeeter down the ramp, no way!!!!!

thats good stuff. i watched 2 grown men back a pontoon boat into the water and managed to get the trailer hung up on the pier next to the ramp (which wasn't easy to do). we stopped fishing and just watched the show.

Willing to bet that his insurance won't cover a bit of the damage cost. The minute the adjuster reads the claim that a 9 year old was operating the vehicle will pretty well clear them of paying anything.

I hope the dad didn't lay into his son about it. He is the moron thinking a 9 year old can handle that. I won't let my own father or wife do it. Too much money at stake and it only takes one second to mess up. Fayette county lake boat ramps can be fun when the slime grows. All the 2wd trucks get stuck.

The report may not read that way.

Was the boy in the truck as the truck went in the water? That kid was probably terrified. I feel bad for the boy, but the dad not so much.

Feel the same way. terrible experience for the young boy, his dad probably won't let him live it down. But the man was ignorant for doing that, are we really that rushed for time when we get to the lake to put our kids in those situations?
