Me and a couple of my friends want to go fishing. When I was younger I remember going to surfside to go fishing off of jettys, and camping and stuff. I got on surfsides website, but the phone number is disconnected. I wouldn't mind just driving down there and figuring it out, however we'll be leaving after 8 on saturday, and basically want to drive down there and fish most of the night, crash then get up and drive home.

Does anyone know if they still offer camping like they used to back in the day, and who to call to reserve a spot?

thank

Havent been to surfside beach since IKE, but i have heard what bobtx said is very true, beach is full of debris. Quintana is just down the road and not too much debris on the beach, so i think camping out there would be no problem. Might want to ask around the board about driving conditions on the beach, but i think it would be safe to say go for it!

Can you still walk out on the jetties? I"ve never caught anything on that pier at quintana. Anyone know who I could call locally?

I went to surfside this weekend. The beach does have some debri, but still good to fish. there is one store opened, a liquar store and a bar and grill restuarant. fishing is still going strong everywhere. Use your cast net to catch bait in the pools on the beach. we found one the was along the beach that went all the way to the beach houses. there was alot of bait in these pools. The pools were holes that were left from the hurricane, lots of bait. Some might be empty now. Just look at theem for a while and see if you see them jumping, then go get'em.

stdreb27,

They do not allow camping in the park. I pitched a tent and a law enforcement officer woke me at sunrise.

I hear the Jetty is fishable.

You can't camp in the park but you can come into the beach and head back East for a couple miles and camp. Best bet would be to keep driving until you are not in front of a house. We were there 2 weeks ago and had no troubles but there was quite a bit of debris on the beach. People were fishing both the Surfside and Quintana jetties when we were down there.

Anyone know of some local camping around there? Besides buying a beach stamp? Is quintana letting people camp yet?

I'm staying on lot 1 in Quintana. If you come down, stop by and say hello. The park number for reservation is (979) 233-1461.
See ya.
