Talk to most any eye doctor and they will recommend poly-carb lenses over glass, especially for fishermen.

Having your buddy's lure smack in you in the face, break your glass lens, and get glass shards in your eye is no bueno!

As others have mentioned, the polarized fishing sunglasses made by Costa, Ocean Waves, H20, Oakley's, etc are all excellent.

Yeah, Mauis are VERY nice, but for $259-$289, you can buy two or three pairs of many other quality brands.

Look for a pair with lens coatings as this really helps reduce glare from the backside of the lens! thumb

used to wear Oakleys, but the long/straight ear pieces are a pain if you wear a cap/hat. I prefer Costa Del mar. I went through thier site and found some for $129 (polarized lens). You gotta take care of your eyes with proper polarized lenses. the cheapies without polarization will let your pupil dialate with the darkened shade, but at the same time they are letting harmful UV rays in and destroying your eyes. Whatever you buy, make sure its a good quality polarized lens.

Depends on the hat, but with baseball type hats, try putting them outside of the hat. Works great for me.

I've had Ray Bans, Maui Jims, and both Costa and Oakley prescriptions. They're all good, pick the style that makes you happy. Really can't go wrong with any of them. Definitely polarized for fishing though.

go to sierratradingpost.com they have lots of close out sunglasses. I got a pair of Oakleys for 50 and after I destroyed them (threw them on the ground during a football game-I'm a coach) I bought a pair of Panoptyx. Don't know how well the Panoptyx work for sight fishing ( I will in March) but they seem to do the job.

Lost my Maui Him's a few weeks back and went To Bass Pro to buy new ones. The saleslady was helping me make a selection when I noticed in another case next to the Maui's another pair with a Maui name on it. I asked what they were and she told me they were brand new Maui's with reading glasses in the bottom! I tried them on and bought them immediately. $200 and worth every penny. I can now wear them and not have to change to regular reading glasses to tie knows or see my locater or cell phone.
They are not prescription but, factory made reading type glasses inthe bottom of regular Maui Jim's. She told me that Bass Pro was the only place you could get them as they are a trial deal to see if they will sell or not. Guarantee you I won't ever be without a pair of these.

If you wear prescription glasses, as I do, Cocoons (fit over your regular glasses) are great. They protect your eyes from the wind, are polarized, and are pretty tough. The lenses will scratch, though, but for 40 bucks, I really like 'em. Have 4 pairs. I have a couple of pairs of Fitovers, but they are not nearly as comfortable.

Where can a person TRY ON a pair of Cocoons? I am afraid if I order them, they will not fit over my wide frame glasses.
