Looking for honest opinion on this unit. Want to install in dash. Anybody have one? Thanks in advance, Charles.

i have one and love it.i hear people say the screen is not big enough but its the same size as all others have been for a long time..i guess if your boat has enough room for the big screen and you dont mind spending the$$$ buy it..i dont have the room money or desire to have the big screen.the technology is the same..so i guess it's the coolness factor and whether your eyes can see the smaller screen is the main difference...hope this helps

Same technology yes but big difference. Compare a 27" tv to a 63" tv. On which one are you going to see more detail?

There is a lot of information that you are looking at while scanning. You will miss a lot on the smaller screens. Yes you will see creek channels, brush piles, rock piles and such, but when it comes to being able to see what objects are holding fish or pockets of bait fish, you will see more detail with the larger screens.

If you have the space on the boat, bite your lip and spring for the biggest unit you can put on the boat.

Big Red, I've heard conflicting views on mounting Si's on the bow. I've heard that you need to go in a straight line for them to work. Have you heard anything different on TM mounting with Si'S.

Its helps you locate sweet spots faster. I used it this weekend on Palestine to find docks with brush, found a few that had brush in between 2 docks.

I have one on my bow and i love it. Yes you have to be going straight but when i have the TM down going down a bank I can see what is near the bank and what is off to the deep water side. Works the same for boat houses, it is nice to see brush that is off of the boat houses that most will never find.

I have a 797. I love it for the Side imaging. I hate it for GPS. It has poor maps and the depth contours are non existent without upgrading it. The side imaging aspect is amazing. Id wait for the lowrance SI to come out and see the quality it represents.
