I love BPS!!!! Never had a problem there. Everything you need at one place and everything you don't need. I can spend hours in there. Just my opinion though. Too each there own. +1

im basically done with bps . i got a gift card for christmas 07 and decided to order 2 rods online in catalogue . after 5 days and no package i emailed them to ask about my order , 2 days later they emailed me back saying . sorry the rods you ordered have been discontinued and that i was going to receive a gift card in the mail . after looking in the mail each day i realize that the gift card had come in days before . i couldve easily thrown it out as junk mail .luckily i didnt .when they sent me the gift carde there was no apology or explanation only something to the effect of congratulations heres your gift card . . i wrote them a nasty email and told them they couldve informed me earlier about the discontinuted product so i could have bought something else or elsewhere .the h&^* with bps .. academy rules for me .they have everyting i need anyway

I live closer to Cabelas and go there on a regular basis with the kids to "browse" and pick up a few things. They try to offer the credit card but aren't too pushy. A polite "no thanks" and keep on walking does the trick. I actually stopped and talked at BPS one day with one of the sales guys about their vacation giveaways. I didn't sign up, but learned that BPS has a real nice lodge/vacation spot in Missouri. I went to the website and have entertained the idea of visiting at some point. But- they're very polite and just doing their job. It's not like they're calling me during Sunday dinner and asking to buy a newspaper subscription.

whiterockjessie ordered some rods online and they contacted him saying they were discontinued? If they are discontinued, why are they offered online in the first place? I have noticed an increase in the solicitors walking around the store. Like someone else mentioned, I just avoid eye contact with them and keep walking. I checked out the Branson deal one time, and it seems like a good deal, but if I remember correctly, it only covers lodging. Still a good deal for lodging, but you have to sit through their time share shpill. I have never been one to take a package deal if it meant I needed to sit through a sales pitch when I get there. I would rather plan my own trip.

I went to the BPS in Grapevine for the first time about 6 month's ago. I was awestruck! yer right. I felt like a kid at a carnival! It was great! Never in my life have I seen anything like it! Thousand dollar rod's and reel's!!! As someone said above, y'all are lucky you live in a city big enough to have such a thing! Next time in the big city, I'm going to find Cabela's and check it out! The wife goes to that mall there and drop's me off at BPS with 4 hour's to kill! The one time I don't mind going into a shopping store!

Academy is my store. The only time I go to BPS anymore is when I cannot find what I need at Academy or when someone gives me a BPS gift card.

BPS is not shopper friendly in my opinion. They are overpriced and hard to deal with when it comes to returns on broken gear. My vote goes to ..........Acadamy! selection is limited, but what they dont have they make up in cost.

Actually I have found that Academy has a pretty darn good selection and you cant beat their prices.

I enjoy the broad selection of fishing and boating equipment at BPS. They've got a huge inventory. My problem is that it's 30 miles one way!

My vote goes to ..........Acadamy! selection is limited, but what they dont have they make up in cost. I've dealt with them quite bit and never had a problem. As a matter of fact, last time I had an issue was with a trolling motor. In this deal I had a trolling motor without the the built in transducer traded for one that did. Now this was a trolling motor I had for 4 months and it was an even trade. Not sure if anyone has checked, but there is quite a price difference between a trolling motor with transducer and one without.
