Has anyone been to the Freeport channel this week? I went about 2 weeks back, and am going to head out there again saturday morning. If anyone has any input on the conditions, if anything is biting, or any good spots to throw the cast net i'd sure appreciate it. Thanks!

Gaftops were hitting mullet in the channel pretty hard last Saturday. Saw some guys pull in a 10' hammerhead a few hundred yards from the end of the jetties. Mullet were everywhere along Surfside beach, 2 casts of my net and my bait well was full.

Thanks for the info Hoss! Im gonna go ahead and give it a try on saturday, hopefully the fishies are hungry. How's the beach looking, a couple weeks back it was pretty soft at the entrance, but the beach was not bad. Does the entrance and beach look doable in a 2WD? I kinda have an itch to throw out the long rod, but not enough of an itch to risk getting stuck.

Beach is pretty hard packed. I was pulling my boat through it in 2 wheel drive and only switched to 4 wheel when I parked too close to the water and the tide came in while I wasn't paying attention. Some of my friends were in a 2 wheel drive Expedition and had no troubles. You should be fine.
