Man you are gonna be hard up to find somewhere decent. I was raised in Odessa and the closest place to really do any good would either be Lake Alan Henry or Colorado City......both being about an hour and half away. You are in the desert and there just isn't a whole lot out there. You can go fish at Buffalo Wallow in Odessa off of 42nd and John Ben Sheppard but i wouldn't keep anything out of there. I know if I left Alaska and moved to Midland/Odessa I'd be miserable. Oil field work??

Welcome to the Forum. Not much that I know of around there. I used to live in Stanton just outside of Midland. Good luck.

Comanche Trails Park out on I20 in Odessa usually has some fish in it. You can do a search on Texas Parks and Wildlife's website to see which ponds are actively stocked in your area.

Man, I feel for you. I'm from Monahans (30 minutes west on I-20) and like someone said earlier, there's not a whole lot to offer out there. I know in Monahans there's Perch Pond on the south side of I-20 between the loop and Stockton Hwy. There's a little bit of every thing there..bass,catfish,perch, and some pretty big carp(nasty). I think there is a Lake Thomas or BJ Thomas, someting like that in Big Spring that you might try. And of course old Lake Balmorhea out past Pecos near Fort Davis, pretty country out there, plus you can stop by at Balmorhea state park-springfed pool that the water stays around 73 year round. Where ever you go, good luck and welcome to Texas. God bless

Welcome to the forum and to West Texas where a 100 mile drive is nothing, I live in Pecos so here is some info that might help you. You can go up to Carlsbad and fish the park, they stock it with trout during the winter, also there are perch, bass and catfish there. You also have the little ponds in the city limits of both Midland and Odessa. Also if you like to fly fish, you could go to South Llano Park in Junction. It is a little bit of a drive but during the spring you can wade and fly fish and catch palm size perch and gaudalupe bass. The area is a state park with nice a camping area. For bigger fish you are going to drive to either Lake Alan Henery or Amistad.
