I was in Gander mountian today checking on the 797 & 997 prices & the 797 was reduced so I ask if there might be further reductions in price during the off season. I was told it was possible if all of the current units in stock were not sold before the updated model came in. My question is!! What changes are in store for the 797? Larger screen, possibly between the size of the current 797 & the 997? Any info would help with the decision making.
Could this be the reason that others have this unit on close-out?

"New models as well, the 788, and 798". These models were mentioned by Eddie in the post "A question for you Hummingbird guys" so I guess this is why everyone is closing out the 797's.

The new 788 and 798 will have a square, 5", 640x640 pixel display, dual card slots with a easy remove/replace door and 3 pre-set buttons. The 997 and 1197 will not change this year. The new units will go on sale in January. Not sure if that is why Gander is reducing their cost. A lot probably has to do with the economy. So, they're like everyone else now - reduce to sell products.
