I just replaced all my trailer wiring this weekend. When I was under my boat I grabbed on one of the bunks and my finger sank into the wood. I pushed on all my bunks and they seemed like they all need replacing becasue of the mushy feeling.

The trailer is a galvanzied 2004 with two 5ft and two 9ft bunk boards holdin my Nitro Center Console. I was doing some research and found utlimate bunke boards. They claim they have a lifetime warranty and don't rot. It would cost me the about the same to do them with trated wood and buying the carpet. They had free shipping so it would be around $154 to order all the bunks.

Has anyone heard of them? http://www.ultimatebunkboards.com/

Has anyone used these?

Please let me know. I think its just a matter of time before my bunks fail and boat damage is guaranteed.

Also, can I replace these without putting the boat in the water first??

Finally, Does anyone know where to buy the wheel well boards also or do I need to make those myself?

Some guys use them and like them. I just use treated 2X6's for mine. I am very careful in selecting them too. No cracks, few knots, etc. They'll last a few years. Longer, if you paint them first.

I take a cordless drill, carpet and staple gun to the ramp, drop the boat in the water, replace the bunks, staple the carpet and I'm good to go. Use stainless steel staples....and leave a slot down the middle of the underside so water will drain out. After you get home, you can fasten the carpet better with some small screws or whatever you like.

I dont know of a way to replace bunks without lifting the boat or launching it. No way to to get to them with the boat sitting on them.

P.S. take some extra bolts to attach the bunks...as some of yours might be rusted out and ready to break.

Now, Donald...please pick John Bolton for your running mate.

I replaced my bunkboards about two years ago with the ultimate bunkboards, I believe its the only way to go. They makes launching and loading a snap and they never need replacing or rotting carpet repalced.
I'm most satisfied with mine and they are very easy to install. It does require removing the boat from the trailer. The job requires maybe an hour of time, a drill, bits, countersink, and two wrenches.
A word of caution, don't unhook the boat until its in the water and always hook the boat up before pulling out of the water. A boat can slide off the trailer very easy. Install a safety chain in case the bow strap breaks.
If the back of the boat is close to floating anyone can push it off the trailer and if you can get any of the boat on the trailer anyone can winch it up on the trailer.
I have nothing but good things to report on http://www.ultimatebunkboards.com/

Willie I've never used them but they look like the "real deal". Thanks for the link.

Just bought some and havent had the chance to put them on. But I am looking forward to see how they work. I'll give my opinion when the job is done.
