Just wondering what everyone thought was better for surf fishing, PINS or Maty?

I have fished both. Fishing is definately better at PINS, but the driving can be really hard on your vehicle. The driving at Matagorda is better and you don't have to drive so far down the beach.

Here are a few of my catches from PINS. All things considered, I would rather go to PINS. I hear the driving is pretty tough past the 24mm right now. Lots of trash piled up from Ike and you need to take a case of Fix a Flat and an air compressor.

See ya on the sand,

Thanks,

For the Reds, shrimp; for the Jacks, live finger mullet and the sharks and some reds, cut whiting.

Take some shrimp and see if you can cast net up some mullet. Cut whiting is always a good bait. Fishbites and shrimp are good for whiting.

Do you catch many pompino at maty?
Thanks for the info... yeah I love maty just never fished pins and was considering making the change for next week, however I know Maty produces good, and is definatly not bad to drive so I might just stick to it.. I am leaving next monday (the 13th) And will be in a white dodge reg cab with a topper on it. If any of yall are there stop by. I will probably be 6-8 miles down.

I have never seen any Pompano caught on Matagorda, but I have caught many on PINS just over the first sand bar using peeled shrimp and a red or lime green fishbite.

Good luck,

Good news is PINS and Gorda seem to run at different times with different fish. Gorda has a lot of reds.

Seaweed also comes in at different times. Gorda gets the weed later and PINS gets it earlier.

PIMS is shot for the Padre Island National Seashore. It is located just south of Corpus Christi Texas. Here is a link to their site: http://www.nps.gov/pais/
