Had good luck at this pond early Sunday pulling out half a dozen bass both from the drainage pipe and in the cove by the stumps.

I did a little trash duty before leaving, cleaning up after the foolishness of others in order to leave the place better than when I came which got me to thinking...

For those that have fished this pond, you know that there is limited bank access with a couple of spots having what appears to be a pallet or partial pallet set out so you can step out from the trees and shoreline grass in order to be able to cast out to fish.

The thought struck me that it might be nice to have just a slightly larger platform setup in these spots so that more than one person could fish them at a time.

When I have my stepson with me we have usually limited ourselves to the drain pipe area because of the limited casting room for two in the other spots.

I'm not sure how others feel about this idea in terms of these minor improvements and thought I would put it out there to collect input and opinions of others.

I look forward to any and all replies.

I second that idea.

Well Steve, you know you have my support and your welcome for the pallets. LOL!!! You know my thoughts on this little pond and I am game for whatever we can do. I just keep looking at those little orange flags hanging around lately and keep wondering what might be going on.

Just an FYI I will be putting 8 more cutie pies in there monday night. I rememeber you catching that nice fish last week and hope one of these days your stepson hooks one himself. Thanks for the clean up effort also.

Tight lines to you all!!!!

What prompted my thought is having access to some excess lumber from helping a family member with a deck rebuild recently which could put to good use.

Out of the 6 I caught on Sunday I lost (2) decent fish trying to get them over a floating log in the "stump cove" and from a lack of having waders on.

My think was each of those areas in and just off the cove are fairly marshy at the shore...I'm not sure how full that pond gets in the rainy season with the run off but it would be easy enough to tether anything we set out to a tree so as to it avoid it taking float and moving elsewhere.

I will size up those spots again for placement and take some inventory for what lumber I have access to that could be put to good use.

There is more than enough cover and structure on that lake. I must respectfully disagree with adding lumber in the water and especially with tethers. There's a lot of wildlife in that little pond and, IMO, it doesn't need any artificial structure.

I would like TFFers to set up an organized effort to clean up that lake. And, maybe have a group on here sort of police it and report who it is that comes in there and trashes the place so the rest of us will recognize them and "influence" them to stop.

Bowie lake has some primo bass for its size. It also has beavers and used to have a wild turkey hen living in there. When it gets cold, the lake is a duck haven- I've seen hundreds of ducks on it in the wintertime. It's a &*%# shame to see all that trash all over it.

I think it would be great to get together with fellow TFFers and do some cleanup at Bowie. Maybe someone has access to a dumpster in the area where we could take the trash.

In response to Earnest T comments...

I respect your feedback as well... which is why I began this thread in the first place in order to solicit feedback from others.

My thoughts were a couple of platforms strategically placed to allow better access to casting than what is now present.

As it relates to clean up efforts...

I am very supportive.

I have made an effort to pickup by bringing a trash bag and taking a bit of time at least every other trip to pick up after others.

My daughter has a monthly "community project" initiative with her class this year and we have used "BHS Pond cleanup" twice now to fulfull that class assignment.

Soda cans and candy wrappers I can somewhat understand...worm containers and minnow bags I do not.

I have also considered contacting the city to understand what is planned in this area as the orange flags are related to the pipeline company that is associated with Chesapeake.

As for organizing a cleanup effort, I am up for that and would gladly provide a trailer to load it on and haul to the dump.

I think it would help a lot if there was just a trashcan there. We could all pitch in to take the liners to the dumpster.

Was out there this morning till about 1 pm. Caught 1 bass. I went to the side that is to the right of the drainage and sifted through the trees and stood on some stumps and pulled him from the grass. nice little 14 incher. Anyways, I left with about half a trash bag of nightcrawler tubs and hook packages and misc. cans and bottles. also, the pallets do come in handy.

Thansk for all your clean up efforts. I am sure the residents appreciate anything we can do to try and keep it as clean as possible.

And by the way my buddy Jeff and I were out at the pond Thursday night catching small brim to use during our striper trip to Whitney this past weekend and we landed 2 very large shiners. I had no clue that this pond even had shiners in it. You learn something new every day.

I think I am getting the urge to take the jon boat down there tonight and see what is biting. Sounds like a plan!

Good luck to all!
