I like the surrealistic effect in #1. But I think the subject matter lends itself to the style of Monet and how his subject material was portrayed.
Reminds me of years ago, when I'd grab the 'ol 2 1/4 Hassleblad, load the mags with Ektrachrome and take off through the woods. There was nothing more able to steal a little artistic license ( in the right hands ) than a few well oiled chrome Zeiss lenses. lol

Respectably, both are nice, and I believe just different enough that the story could vary depending on which one you choose. I lean towards #2, but like I said, both are nice. Would love to know the history of this boathouse, your picture draws me in and makes me curious.

Thanks so much for all the input so far. I always appreciate the tribes feedback. In response to a few posts:
Grapenut As a long time film shooter before I switch to digital, I appreciated your post. Im a Zeiss fan myself. Besides the amazing new cameras that Canon just announced, the biggest news from this years trade show that occurred last week in Germany for Canon shooters is that Zeiss is now making a line of glass for Canons dSLR line up. As you can imagine, a lot of Canon shooters are most excited about the announcement. While Canon is known for making great pro glass, now that the dSLRs are over 20MP, the lens lineup needs updating so the Zeiss partnership is very exciting.
For those that asked about the location and history, its one of several old boathouses on private water that Ive been shooting this past year mainly around East Texas. Im very much into the old school ways. While Ive traveled the world for years for work and pleasure, I dream of the day when Ill have my own boathouse on secluded spring-fed water. Some dream of yachts on blue water but I tend to prefer a dream of an ancient stick-steer boat to chase bass and crappie and the luxury of time to enjoy the blessing.
Thanks again,
Blue Moon

Blue Moon, Thanks for the info on Zeiss and Canon updates. I really would not know where to start looking for all the features available now in digital.
My experiences with Zeiss started back in college, working with the school's 5X7 Sinar Viewcamera and a borrowed Leica 35mm. The difference in those lenses always manifested itself in the darkroom during enlargement.
I can't imagine the digital advantage present nowadays. Especially when using the 5X7 meant taking half an hour to set up one shot and not knowing what you had until you hit the darkroom !!
Nut - still cranking out stuff with my old Nikon F2. lol

Both are nice. I would go with photo 2 due to how the post processing has reduced the clarity of the water reflection and fog in photo 1.
