Fishing in general is getting good at the marina and around the lake, Friday evening I caught upwards of fifty fish mostly undersize crappie, a few big bream and several nice sized LM bass. Started out catching a few on the backside of the covered area with the big overhead light and then switched to the area next to the gas pump where I caught the majority of the fish from 9:30 until 10:40. Jigs and roostertails run just under the surface and down to about three feet. I would see most of the strikes from the bream and crappie but the bass would hang further back in the shadows.. by 9:15 I was the only one left fishing on the whole marina (they close at 10PM).

Hi HLS, do you have any news about the marina, as far as crappie fishing goes? Thanks! I saw somewhere in this website the "friends of the Nails Creek", do you guys have a link for that or at least could tell me what is that about? Thanks again!

friendsofnailscreekstatepark.org is the temporary website I built until the friends group gets the legal stuff done. The State Park system as a whole is still at risk because of funding and public support for individual parks. I have a selfish interest in Nails Creek state park because I fish the creeks in the spring and don't want the park to close again from lack of support. The Friends group will be the voice and a resource for the park.
I'm thinking of heading back to the marina this evening (Friday) to see if I can find the fish again and maybe catch some for dinner!

That's a nice thing to do HLS. I also fish the yegua at the Nails creek park! Actually most of the spots I learned from you! Well, I am just an A&M student, but if there is something I could contribute for the park, just let me know. I love that creek on the spring! BTW, how was the bitting this evening at the Marina? Thanks!
