I was curious how many of you use a KeelGuard and what you think about it. I am thinking about putting one on my boat.

there is one on my bullet. so far so good.
personally i prefer a hamby's heavy duty keel guard, but can't complain much about the megaware keelguard. it's a cheaper protector!

I've never seen a HD Hamby let go.
I've seen plenty of peel n stick units let go. If you're planning on keeping your rig a while, belly up and get the Hamby.
There's TONS of posts on fishing boards about their peel n sticks coming loose, every brand on every hull.

I was thinking of putting one of the peel n stick ones on my new alumacraft tunnel hull. How do you think it would stick? Would I have to remove the paint?

Vaughn Yes remove the paint and scuff up the area with some 120 grit sand paper then clean it real good with Isopropol Alcohol to get any oil or grease off the keel. Bazz

My Keelshield split after about three years beaching in Central Texas rocks and sand. I need to call them and get a replacement, but what a PIA to have to pull off and replace. I have had Hambys before and it takes a lot of abuse to wear one out. My vote is for the Hambys if you don't mind the extra money. I think both brands are now owned by the same company. Couldn't imagine having a boat without one, hope that answers your question.
