What is the best unit for the money? Can't afford a unit like the 997.
I am retired, fish mostly for Crappie, do not do any tournoments. I just need a unit to replace the console unit on my pontoon. I do need GPS & would like to keep it as simple as possible. I guess this is a lot to ask. I have a limited knowledge of this type of equipment as I recently purchased my boat & it was equipped with 535's I do not have the proper manuals.

What do all of you experts reccomend?

A bad day on the lake is much better than a good day at work!

I am not an expert by all means, here is a link to the manual section on Humminbird;

You will need Adobe reader which you can get for free at www.adobe.com.

If you haven't been up to the Trading Post forum yet, we have Remanufactured Humminbird 595 at a special price for TFF memebers and readers.

Not an expert but I use Lowrance and have for years. They hold up well to my limited use of about 250 days a year. If you are not getting a side image, HB makes nothing to compare to a Lowrance unit not even close.
