How long have you been married?

Did you just start fishing or is this a sudden interest?

I'm 57 and my wife is 55. We've been fishing the Galveston Bay area together, along with our two young-uns, for years. For many years, especially when the kids were small, we wade fished or fished from the bank. We never seemed to be able to push purchasing a boat high enough up the list of priorities. After the kids were grown, the biggest bone of contention between us was due to the heighth differential. I stand at about 6'1" and when I'm chest deep, her hat is floating off her 4'11" head. We solved that problem a couple of years ago with the purchase of a couple of kayaks. Since then, we've had a blast fishing and exploring both fresh and saltwater. Sure, there are times when I like it to be just me and a buddy, or sometimes I like to go by myself, but when it comes down to it, the only thing better than doing something you love, is doing it with someone you love. I hope your joking...if not...he don't know how lucky he is to have a sweetheart that has similar interest. Especially if it's fishing. I always wished for the same. It is good to spend time together doing fun things, as well as the mundane things we do daily in our lives.

Well it looks like she didn't take any of our advice. I hope she at least takes a look and reads what we have all posted. Happy Memorial Day everyone.

My wife and I have fished together sense around the early to mid '80's. I have tried to get her interested in posting here. She told me when I got this new computer and roadrunner she would. She hasn't yet but she will. SuperWoman you should post here and interact with other fisherperson's. It doesn't matter when you decided to try fishing. It doesn't matter if your trying it because your husband love's it so much. There is a reason he enjoy's it. It is alot of fun. One day those kid's will grow up leave home and have thier own life. It will just be you and him. You need to learn to enjoy something together now and into the future. We did. Skip

I wish my wife would share any of my interest but she would rather sit in the house and do nothing. I offer to take her out all the time and it's to cold or to hot or it's to windy. I tell her its alone time together and she could bring a book to read. I take some of her friends with me every once in a while.

Well he seems to think that with stories I could tell and my smart mouth, that I may say something inapporpriate! It started out as being interested, however, I have to admit that I have seen how much it irritates him and it seems like I could have a lot of fun with him on here if I stay on !! Gotta love that! However, I told him I would stay off (mostly) after today. I have some photos of Memorial day weekend with some of the guys from this forum to post first. HEhe. Anyone know Stony's log in name??? And we have to get Tiffany to join too. If she joins I will stay!

It is great if you want to join in out of a real interest in fishing. But, and I am just playing devils advocate, sometimes people need their own hobby or activity as relaxing get away time. If the interest is sudden and of questionable authenticity he may feel like you are intentionally trying to ruin his important get away time. Try easing into it slowly and show him it really is an interest of yours. No real fisherman can resist helping out a newbie lol laugh
