Well, you're also wrong about the Academy employee/Shimano situation so you're 2 for 2 now.
Well Academy is aware of the situation so I don't think I was wrong there but you are 1 for 1(wrong) there Smoke.

Quit all the whining about Academy employees. Honestly, it's one of the benefits of working retail. If they didn't buy them out, the first guy that walked in the door and saw them would have. You missed out, get over it. You'll probably miss out next time too, so learn to deal with it in some way other than crying about it on the web and getting all pissy. And no, I don't work retail at Academy or anywhere else.
Manufacturers can not control how or for what price a retailer sells their product. According to a 2007 Supreme Court decision, they can refuse to sell to that retailer in the future, but that's the limit of their control.

To answer the original question. I bought one last weekend and used it today for the first time. I liked it a lot. Cast a long way with little effort and no backlashes if it is adjusted correctly. Retrieve is nice and smooth. I got the 5. Already planning to get a 7.

I just bought a curado cu200 on a rod {the rod is a piece of junk] ... IT is green it shows some wear but everything works ....The price I paid was 10 bucks & I have already been offered my money back plus a couple extra so I think I will keep it for a while to see if the price goes up .......
I have gotten 2 other reels by shimona they are the ciallista & the chromica these 3 reels I really don't like cause of where the spool release is I like the older reels with the spool release off to the side.......

The new Quantum TE may be better than the Curado (or not), but even if it is, the price (I think the MSRP is $279.99) puts more in competition with the Chronarch or the Calais.
$300 for a reel made in China is a tough pill to swallow..
I agree though, the new TE should be a really great reel.

I just bought one of the new Curado E-7's. It looks and feels great to me, but havent had a chance to use it in the field yet. I should have a better opinion after this weekends BBT at Lewisville.

Cheryl, I think you will like this reel. I bought one last week and I really like it. Go home with some money tomorrow.

Man I used the new Curado again yesterday and I am starting to get used to the different feel compared to the older reel--still not positive about the durability but so far no problems.

Finally used my E5 last weekend. Love it. smooth, great castability, and I was slinging a small crankbait. So far, so good.
