Another rude guide on Texoma? Somehow this thread is no surprise to me at all.

J.Allen is one of the best guides on the lake.

Oh...the guy that did that to you JV...we call guys like that "boat drivers" so the real guides don't get a bad rap. smile smile

Well, we dont know for sure if he was a boat driver, but the way he was instructing his passengers it sure looked like it laugh The odd part was that he was weaving in-between boats in 6 ft of water grin I guess I have a little different perspective about people. When that happened all I could do is laugh. I told JV4 that I have seen some weird stuff but that along with the 30ft cruiser last year trolling in-between boats on Hubbard had to be my tops so far. I can truly understand the frustrations of guides on that lake and even seasoned fisherman. I witnessed more than a couple of times people cutting guides off our running full blast next to guide boats. So lets not turn this into a guide bashing party here. The boat that was trolling was a cc with a blue stripe grin and he did not even care, it was quite funny to be honest but I guess if I had to put up with that all the time I would get a little bitter. Fishing was good, not great but good. Did hit a couple blind casting early. I told JV4 it was just to pretty of a day and that place was packed laugh when it is nice and the birds show you the fish that always spells disaster. With the population growth I do not see it getting any better. I have nothing against trolling but stay on the outsides if people are catching with lures. I would never get in front of a troller if he was there first. But of course I do not need to mention this on the TFF because we are all great and polite fisherman and we are never wrong grin

Except it is never a guide doing it here.
You rarely see Chuck or Billy or any other guide here for that matter when they are trolling and they never get too close to a boat show.

It doesn't count unless your wife said you are wrong. Then we all know you can NEVER be right when you are married. grin

If a boat (guide or not) any boat, does what you described, then they lose their right to anonymity. Post their boat number and their name if they advertise on the side of their boat.
A picture or video would be even better.

Do not however lump all guides in the same category.
I don't do that ever time I get treated badly on the water by a Non-guide.

90% of the guides I know go waaaaay out of their way not to inconvenience other boats. Too bad nobody posts how nice they were treated by a guide. I promise it happens more than the bad things.

Post accurately what happened and their name or post nothing at all.
Keep it fair.

I posted this topic, because I was shocked at what happened. Did it make me mad? No, it made me laugh. I agree with you that sometimes people just don't know and we have all been there at one time or another. I also agree with you that 90% of guides are very considerate of other boats, but unfortunately it's the 10% that will make the biggest impression on all. I have several friends that are guides and I couldn't even imagine any of them doing something like what this guide did. I didn't want this to be a guide bashing topic, but rather a sharing of an experience that, until Saturday, I hadn't seen before. Anyone that has fished with me knows that I laugh at things like this and will joke about it well after the person moves on.

Now, back to whats really important....how to catch the ever elusive yellow bass welcome

Texoma is an amazing lake. Lots of fish and lots of crazy things going on. I fish Lewisville all the time and I've not seen the craziness on LL that I've seen on Texoma. One day I saw a guide back his boat up to another fisherman's boat that encroached too closely into his zone. After much screaming & cursing, he raised the motor until the prop was just barely in the water and gunned it drenching everyone in the boat. He then blasted off laughing.

Not bashing guides or the lake, its beautiful and there are lots of really nice folks up there. I guess the pressure to catch those stripers makes folks loose their self control.

Humm I think I have seen that up there too. I wonder how that got to be known as acceptable behavior by grown men?

Maybe you could talk that guy with the 98 mph boat to take a little trip up there for some super fast trolling. He could run circles around those other trolling boats.

Hey Guys,
No one said that ALL guides act like this, just the one guide was mentioned geezs...a little sensitive are we??? Any one that has fished for any lenght of time runs into KNOT HEADS, like this dude. And a Guide should know better. I have seen this behavior by guides...but I will say MOST guides are really good folks and are respectful of others. And the guides do put up with its share of knot heads!!! I have seen this also. But I do wish we could retrain these knot heads...And to say that they don't know any better is a crock! If they are a guide they should know...and if they are new to fishing, someone should tell them! My husband tells me I am going to get shot...heeehee
but wrong is wrong...I try and be polite, but some times folks are just stupidly dangerous! And when I have my kid in the boat the mother bear comes out!! I think people that own a boat, (newbies) should have a boating class before they are given the privilege to be on the water. It's ashame folks don't have more sense!! But it is what it is folks! I say if they act like that post it on here if you can get the boat numbers even better and if you have it on film...wow...Folks if we treat others like we want to be treated then this won't happen would it...???
