Talked to a buddy in Corpus. He said the water looks great right now and the tides are getting closer to normal. He didn't get anything damage from the storm other than high tides for a few days. Fishing should be good for the weekend. Hope so anyways, I have a Rockport trip planned for next weekend.

thanks for the info. I'm headed up there tomorrow. I haven't heard how Ike's tidal surge affected Port A and the Packery. I'll post if I have any luck.

South Packery Jetty is open, heard they been doing good on reds there...Not sure on what, but assuming cut mullet would be a good choice...And supposedly plenty off mullet along the shorlines to catch...
Not sure if the main access to North packery is open yet though...But should be able to access it from next few entrances north of the bridge...PINS is open now, heard sharks and reds being caught from beach entrance to the 8MM...
GISP pier is fine, might try there next week for some trout...
If I don't go to work, to help with the cleanup in Houston, Texas City by then...

Glad to hear that there, at least, the damage is minimal. I am headed down there at the first of the year. Continued status reports are appreciated. thumb

Fished the south packery channel today. I didn't have much luck but I saw several people catching Spanish mackrel and a few specks. The specs I saw were over 18 inches. I moved over to the surf north of Mustang island jetties around 3pm and immediately caught 2 specs. I took a light rig in the surf and caught another spec. All under sized. I caught alot of slip jacks? Going back out in the AM. I'll post again.

Or it sounds like the surf, might be getting to clear for reds... smirk
Hoping to go to PINS, with friends this weekend maybe... thumb
If so, I'll be trying MINJ also... wink

But whites have been schooling in the evening on Travis...So me, might be staying closer to home... cheers

I haven't heard much from the Houston Area fisnermen/ladies. Many are still without power down there. the Corpus Christi, and Port Aransas area looks good.

I must not be doing something right. LOL. The surf was very clear. I haven't seen it like that in a while. The bait fish (mullet) were everywhere too. I'm ready for some White bass action, but right now i'm on a quest to catch a mess of slot reds, and to hook my girlfriend on a bull red or two. The specs are good too, just so long as they're keepers. I could hardly feel them on the large surf rods w/ 30lb test line, but they're fun on a good 7ft. rod & 15lb test line.

I'll be back there soon I hope.

Yeah, it looks like the wind won't be dieing back down till Thursday...But lot of good reports Sat. of reds north of MISP Jetty...With a few on Sunday on PINS,but with supposed wind increased on Sunday they seem to have been more spotty and south of the 4x4 sign...
PortA South jetty might be the ticket for some bulls...But Mustang Island around the Fish Pass area, should be just as good as any...Trout action on the north side of the MISP Jetty should be awesome now..Just have to have patience, and hit it early and late evening...
Good luck....
