My "do nothing attitude"?

Please, you dont know me, so dont pretend like you do.

I have called TPWD, numerous times on people using dragnets, shocking fish, etc, and they never come. They have more important bodies of water to deal with than whats in Dallas.

BEWARE of who you confront!!!!! The last time I witness this happen, a white guy confronted these 2 poachers of keeping excess limits of LMBs.... of course the unexpected thing happened. The guy who confronted got jumped and shanked with the bottom of a fishing pole, including getting kicked in the head a few times.

I was about 15-20 yards away and heard him yell and saw the whole thing. Unfortunately, the poachers took the fish and ran off into their truck right after the incident. BTW, its a siverish/grey Chevy truck with dark tented windows. By that time it was too late for me to do anything nor did i want to. Gave the beatup guy a hand to get back up and he mentioned that his confrontation was a stupid move.

So i think its better off if you call the GW or leave it alone, unless you are with some buddies and can outnumber them. The last thing you want is some crazy poacher sucker punch you in the face or better yet.... pull out a knife or a gun on you.

Couldn't agree more. That's why in addition to my fishing license I also have a CHL.

Practical advice #1 - call the game thief number listed above. Give them license plate #'s, take photos, etc, which leads to practical advice #2 - don't put yourself in harm's way, or at least have a buddy ready to back you up.

If the GW's get enough calls on a particular area, they will respond. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that an egregious enough offense can earn a poacher a bit of jail time.

Do not confront them!

Call operation game theif. Call them everytime you see them fishing the area.

If you confront them again, you run the risk of them slicing and dicing you or adding several air holes God did not intend for you to have.

The next thing you know they will be at the pond with a castnet or seine to strip it of fish. Report them.

You must be a bad SOB to walk up and tell an individual they got to put there fish back in the water because of size limitation. Don't you know you can get seriously hurt doing that. Just call the Game Warden and let them do their job. Sound like you trying or wanting to be the Game Warden yourself and you might end up getting hurt behind it. Not trying to be a SOB myself but i would suggest just make the phone call and let the Law handle the lawful situations.

Did I mention the fishing pole used as the weapon was an Ugly Stick?

I call Operation Game Thief a couple of times at Rowlette Creek just above the the gun range. I would sit there for an hour and nothing happen. Never fish there again, fish doesn't stand a chance up there.

Guys!

I am a friendly fisherman! I did not get up on the guy and get in his face WWF style. I approached him in a polite way and let him know that what he was doing was wrong. He got upset with me because he thought I was lying to him and I think he was a little embarrassed. And everyone is right on about confronting people ...... you can get seriously hurt or even killed! BE CAREFUL! We sized the guy up. He was with his family. There was no danger in this particular situation. And I never go out alone...my brother in law is always fishing with me.
Somebody made the point about calling the number on my license/game warden and that is exactly what I am going to do next time I see this happening.
The point is to go out and have fun....and to continue having fun. My whole point (and i think most will agree) is that searching for a productive spot is a challenge in itself. It is an investment in time and gas. The fish are there for everyone to enjoy. If the guy had just taken 5 of those little guys out of there I would not have cared.....he was taking like 15 and i just had to say something.

I wouldn't confront them but would call operation game thief...if they dont know that the GW is coming they are more likely to stay and get caught in the act...the sorry truth is most perpetrators that do not respect the law and get tickets don't end up paying them anyway.

Confronting the poacher in the woods while they are poaching.. and what happens to the idiot who does.. is the stuff of legends back home...

If you feel the need to confront someone about what they are catching.. don't.. if they are in the mind set to break the law in the first place and risk thier truck, gear, fines, jail time.. they won't think twice about pulling a gun on you...

Call the cops..that is what your taxes pay for. If you don't want ot be the one who calls (cause you might have to show up in court to state what you saw).. call from pay phone at the local stop and rob... CID is a nasty thing in those cases..

You do not have to call the GW. CAll the police they will be there in no time and will hold them until the GW can arrive.

Trust me..I slept in a Holiday Inn Express last night.
