I live by it too. It's not a real good lake for catfishing, from my experience. I mostly catch small channels there. I've had most luck fishing on the Western leg of the lake, South of Lake Ridge pkwy. It gets pretty stumpy down there just south of Loyd Park, and I've had pretty good luck there with Danny Kings. Nothing big, but plenty of bites from small channels. I was actually thinking of running out there tonight and trying my luck before the storm.
I was surprised to find that someone has caught a few good fish there (records below from the TPWD site).
Catfish, Blue 25.40 lbs Trotline
Catfish, Channel 10.89 Rod and Reel
Good luck to you.

I've caught only a couple of blues in there, they were all small though. That was in the Walnut Creek area of Joe Pool, off the bank in Loyd Park.
I guess I should have taken my little 2lb blue to be certified... that would have been funny.

we caught a few channel cats while fishing for crappie under the bridge. nothing that big but we did have one up around 3 or 4 lbs.

I HAVE FISHED THIS LAKE SINCE 5TH GRADE WHEN IT OPENED. I HAVE NEVER CAUGHT A BLUE CAT OUT OF THE POOL! I HAVE ONLY CAUGHT CHANNELS AND FLAT HEADS OUT OF THE POOL! THAT WOULD BE GREAT IF SOMEONE COULD POST PIC OF A BLUE FROM THE POOL, I DID NOT THINK THEY WERE IN HERE.
