Anyone been????

Last time I was out, the lights where still on from 9/11 7years ago. Only thing we caught that trip where about 100000000000 black drum. Not one sandy or striper. Looks like all De Cordova Bend Dam has to offer is memories. noidea

I remember you could walk up the the ledge that wraps around the right side of the dam, cast 20/30ft out and hook onto a 15lb striper with ease. Biggest one we came outta there with was a 25lb caught on a 4" Shad head

Ahhhh the memories when a good striper/sandbass lake was less then a hour away!

I have been a few times the last couple months, and when they're not releasing water you have to walk to the big pool that's about 200-300 yards down.I caught only 1 striper one time, about 4 pounds, and some sand bass.Pretty much that's what I catch most of the times, and that's what I target, sand bass, but you can catch a striper here and there, just not as big as in Texoma.

I just want to fish a few days a week!

I used to fish that same pool! A majority of the larger fish resides on the adjcent bank where the water backflows into that pool area. THERE WHERE SOME BIGUNNS IN THERE!

Clear Zara Spooks worked doggy style FAST would make the striper leap out of the water!

Another good spot was directly under the power lines where there's another deeper pool. Right after they'd shut the dam off, the sandies and stripers school up there.

Also when the waters low, over turn rocks for small crawdaddys, put them on a hook, and HOLD ON!

Zen,

is it still like a jungle down there? Last time we where out trees/bushes/grass lined the middle of the river.

If you walk hugging the shore it's pretty clear, just rocks, gravel. The las time I went I caught about a dozen sand bass but they were all caught right before dark,it's been like that a few times, when I can get there by 4 or 5 in the afternoon, fish for 3 or 4 hours, and nothing, and then the last 15-20 minutes it's non stop action. It's fun, maybe not as fun as catching stripers at Texoma, but the advantage is that I only drive 40 minutes and I'm there.
