Another option is to shop Cabelas. Way better customer service and caring attitudes. I shopped BPS once in Grapevine when it 1st opened. I picked up a few items and then went to pay for them in cash and the guy running the register asked me for my phone #. I told him there wasn't any reason you should need that, especialy since I was paying in cash. He insisted again, and I left the items on the counter and walked out.
I have been a happy Cabelas customer ever since.
Some folks mouths, flat out runs their minds.

it's that $10 voucher they send you ever so often. if you don't use it then you loose the points That's the reason I stop going over to BPS. They don't let the points just add up, they send you the $10 voucher that you have to use within a certain time or loose it. I just go to Academy now for everything or order from Cabela's online. Wonder if any on the Bass Pro Staff every read on here. Doubt they will change the practice though. I have asked that they get certain items and they don't listen to the sportsman. Academy exchanged a broke rod I had with no questions but BPS wouldn't exchange the same rod - of course I didn't have a receipt but Academy didn't mind. Difference in Customer Service styles! It will cost them one day! Plus my Merc Oil is cheaper at Academy.

Where do you look at your points? I put a lot on my BPS card and should probably be wetching the points better than I do.

I called and got off the program. They had hit me for $450+. They gave the points back to me also. She also extended my expiration to March '08. If you make 1 purchase a year none of them expire.

I've been following this thread for a little while now and thought I'd chime in.
BPS rewards program is basically giving you free money. I don't know of any other sporting goods store that offers such a program. Academy certainly doesn't reward you for spending your money there. Cabelas doesn't either. It seems to me that folks are being a little petty about this. If BPS chooses, in affect, to give you money as a reward for spending money there then they certainly have every right to say you have to use it before a certain date or it expires. After all, it isn't your money. You're not entitled to it. You received merchandise worth the total amount of the money you spent. BPS has simply chosen to reward you for spending your money at their store.
I spend a good deal of money at BPS, in part because the do offer the rewards program. If they chose to GIVE me money just for spending money there then I don't have any trouble playing by their rules to get it.
Bottom line - "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth."
"Life is a matter of luck and the odds of success are in no way enhanced by extreme caution." - Erich Topp, German U-boat Commander, 1943.
When in doubt, set the hook.

I mainly shop at Academy, but don't hesitate to go to BPS when the whim hits me. Academy is MUCH cheaper, but BPS has allot of other stuff that Academy doesn't. I went in this past weekend and got a bunch of stuff for my newsed boat. The total was something like $125, but I had $79 dollars accumulated in points, so I used them all, and paid the difference. And I never felt the need to complain, its a point system, they don't force me to participate, I do it cause I want to and I like it. I shop there, so might as well get something in return. If you don't like it, then don't participate. For me it is not feasible to shop at Cabelas, since it is too far.
I just don't get why some folks complain about everything and anything. I like to get the best value for my buck, so I shop around, weather its Academy, tacklewarehouse.com, wally world clearance, you name it, I shop for it. But sometimes I want the item yesterday, and I know BPS has it, so I load up my girls, and we make it a little outing, and in the process I earn some points for it. If I get up there and the price does not suit me, I go elsewhere.
So needless to say I LOVE BPS, but don't shop there exclusively.

I've never had any of my points expire. How can you complain about free money. I shop at Cabela's and Academy and have found the customer service much better at BPS, I usually can't find an employee at the other stores.
