New to ETX area. Moved to Marshall from Dallas a month or so ago and haven't fished many of the local lakes since I was a kid. Interested in info about Lake-O-The-Pines, Murvaul, Martin Creek, Caddo and T-Bend. I've been on the Forum for years, formerly BASSACKWARDS1, so fully aware of how great you guys and gals are for sharing information.

Jiggin John or CV or Lonnie - - If any of you guys see this let the others know that I haven't fallen off the edge of the world quite yet!!

Billy,
We were worry about you there for a while. You were talking about moving to ETX, but I haven't heard from you since. I wish I can help you on the lakes you mentioned, however it's good to know that I will have a go-to guy if I ever get lost over at ETX. I assume you still have your favorite rod?
Take care buddy, and keep in touch...I am glad everything is settled and situated!

Welcome to E Texas!

I fish LOP mostly in the winter in the deep water and Lake Gilmer during the warmer months. I used to go to Caddo every once in awhile for a change but decided not to eat fish from there after reading an article about high levels of mercury in fish located on the Texas side. Martin Creek also has high levels of mercury so it's a no go. Haven't been to Murval. Also check out the sand bass that school up the Sabine River in Jan/Feb that is a lot of fun.

Thanks a lot guys, I'll definitely check some of these holes out.

CV - Yeah, you bet, still got the rod.Just not putting it to much use lately, but hoping that will change soon. I've got all my jig tying material in storage still, and am itchin to get a few "skunks" wrapped!! You can bet I'll keep you abreast of my experiences over here.

Take care & Lunker Luck - Billy

If you ever go to Murvaul, give me a shout! I've been wanting to try that lake for a couple of years! Everyone that I fish with fishes for these things called Bass? (whatever those are wink ) and don't have the patience to fish for slabs.

Jacob645 - We'll do boss. May be a while, losing my boat in my pending divorce (an out-of-spite thang), but hopefully w/in the next year will have something else to get me snuggled up to the pilings. Haven't been to Murvaul since late 60's (while I was in Boy Scouts), so I'm sure the fish have grown a little bit. I'm up in Marshall, but will give a shout out when my hours at work permit me to do so.

Boy Scouts is the last time I've been there also, although mine was in the early 90's! Good Ol' Camp Pirtle. Those were some good times.

Jacob645 - yes, good 'ol Camp Pirtle. I've wondered just recently if that park still exsists. Gonna have to make a run down there this next week to check it out. May go Sat after clocking out and camp for the night. With the nights getting slightly cooler now it may be more tolerable. Will post if anything decides to bite!!
