Yeah, I thought about pouring a half a bottle of chartreuse Spike-It on it just to get over the fear of doing just that! LOL

I am thinking about re-carpeting my boat this winter, do you mind if I ask were you got the carpet from, and what kind of cement did you use. Also, what did you use to take the old cement off with.?
Thanks for the advise.

Living out here in Georgia only about 50 miles from Dalton (Carpet capital of the world), getting the carpet was easy. I actually found it at the following website: http://inglescarpetinc.com/id53.html for Ingles Carpet in Dalton. I have a 20' boat so I got 25' of carpet (glad I did) so I could ensure the nap direction was the same on every carpeted area. I got the carpet at $6.50 a foot for a 7' wide carpet. The marine grade glue was $25. a gal and I used 1 1/2 gals and almost a quart of contact cement to carpet the doors and tight bend work. As for removing the carpet, literally pull all the old stuff off, removing any screws or other strips that might help secure it. Remove all the doors, hinges, hardware, etc. Scrape as much of the old glue and carpet backing off, a floor and carpet scraper for around $17 was a great investment. Finally I got out the old rags and the gasoline to get whatever was left off the surfaces. You buy special cleaner but believe me the gas (as expensive as it is) is still cheaper and works great! It sounds like a lot of work and it is, but taking your time and thinking the process through (like how to cut the carpet to cover the corner on a door) is worth it.

Now all you need is to find someone that knows how to fish to go out with you so you can get some fish in the boat. HEHEHE Looks real good Bob, wish you could come back and to LOP in October with us, we miss you.

Nice job! Is that color called Platinum? I am going to recarpet my Dad`s boat this winter and like the color you used. It`s going to be a surprise for him.

Thanks, all. Yes it is Platinum. It is surprisingly cooler than I thought it would be. During this past weekend the sun was beating down on it pretty good while I was working on it. So much so that my tools and the aluminum hinges would burn the heck out of you if you touched them. The carpet was no where near as hot. I'm happy about that!
