Anyone been to the Nolan lately? I haven't been down there since spring and was wondering what the water conditions were, if there is any water. A buddy and I are going to go cast a fly this weekend and were contemplating the Nolan or the Brazos again. Any information would be nice before we go and there is nothing but a river bed.

It doesn't get much pressure during the summer....it does have decent numbers of bass and sunfish.....Lots of carp.

Went to the Nolan yesterday morning with a buddy of mine, we were the only ones there, that made it nice. There is still plenty of water to hold a fish or two, pretty murky and in about the high 70's. Plenty of small bass, panfish, and sandies. Got snubbed by a carp about midday. If you are looking for a local river with almost no pressure, except when the sandies are running, then give the Nolan a shot. Just thought I'd give everyone an update on river conditions. Tight lines!

Sounds like a good time to me. Man I wish I was fishing today. I know the forum here was very quiet. I just knew y'all were all off fishing today. Awesome! I hope to go real soon.

Was there enough water to yak it?
We almost diverted to the Nolan Friday when heading to the Brazos.

Thanks Budd, that's what I assumed and the wife needed paddling practice.

Lots of portage practice available....by the way, up near the old railroad bridge (if you see it you will recognize it), there are good numbers of decent sized sunfish and medium size bass. The water always looks like it doesn't have any fish in it....but they come out of nowhere. Try a size 8 foam hopper....
