Hey guys- Made a trip to Belton this weekend to pre-fish for our club tournament next Sunday. We were on teh water by 7:00. Fished around and hooked into my first smallmouth! I can understand why so many people like fishing for smallmouth because this sucker put up a fight like a 6 pounder and only weighed about 3 1/2... The picture got messed up some how when we tried to load it. But we also pulled this one of from the depths. It was about 21 1/4 inches. It doesn't look very big though because I am holding it right next to me. Just for comparison, I am 5'10". I am trying to get the smallmouth pic to load and when post it if I get it to work. Good fishing- Alec

They are a blast...fish for them regularly in the spring...usually average 4 to 5 smallies an evening in april and may. Loads of fun...you're right about the pull. Take the weight of a smallie and times it by 2 and you have the equivalent LMB fight generally

I'm pretty sure thats either a LMB or a spotted bass. either way we'll have to talk about it tommorrow.

Those smallies are a blast! Belton is a great place to catch them, especially when the cooler weather arrives and the water temps come back down. Those brown fish can really test your tackle!

Hey guys- They helped me too get it loaded, but the file was corrupt so it turned out as a negative. This fish measured about 18 inches. I am not a great estimater when it comes to smallmouth as it is my first, but it felt about 3.5. Let me know what you think and keep in mind I did not hold out at all.
