Does anyone know why bluegill sometimes pee when you reel them up and unhook them?

Its their last defense, bullhead do it, panfish do it. Ive yet to have a bass do it, though.

Fish pee is just the mark of successful fishing.  Don't know for sure but I always thought it was a fear mechanism kicking in...it happens in animals such as dogs when under extreme stress and even humans under stress... I best pissers I've seen are hybrid sunfish...like a water gun and every one of them does it.

Let's see here, somebody hooks me in the jaw with a meat hook and jerks me 1000 feet up in the sky and grabs me with a big hot clamp, I would do the same thing (or worse).
