Hey guys! I have a couple of questions please. We are getting together a group (4-6 guys) to head out to Galveston the first weekend in October. What is the fishing like that in October & what can we expect to catch? This will be the first time deep sea fishing for all of us. Could y'all reccomend a charter boat for us? We are wanting a full day trip, what are the pros & cons of charter vs party boats. Thank you for any & all input.
Mike

if you have 6 people id recommend chartering to have more room. or the the 48 hour tour on a party boat. you will catch lots of diff things including the tuns run that i think starts in october? google fishing charter boats and scroll through the info on them and u can find a good one.

NTX Mike, let me be the first to welcome you to the forum! i think a charter boat would be your best bet. you can take beer, if you drink, and the captain will do everything in his power to make sure you have a good time!!

I'm going to Galveston in OCT., I'll stay on the pier, Bull Reds will be there at that time, as well as Bull Sharks... As far as party boats in Galveston I would take the Williams fleet.

Thanks for the welcomes & info guys. I have been looking at the charter boats, I do think that's the route we are going to take.

mike, i think i would save the money and fish the piers or beachfront. not much to keep offshore on a short trip. if you were going to do a onernighter, i would say go offshore but no snapper, wrong time for kingfish or ling so you would be lucky to catch anything worth keeping that time of year of a short trip. one of the 48 hr tuna trips would be killer. i would want my first offshore trip to be full of fishing and be able to take home some fish. hit the beachfront for bullred/slot reds, trout, flounder and a few others. welcome to the board. lots of nice and helpful people here.

Depending on which time in Oct, the flounder might be starting to run if the water temp drops below 65F.
