first of all i like cabela's. i order alot of my hunting supplies and some fishing supplies from them (excalibur fishing line, some hooks...), so please don't think i'm bashing them.
my concerns are looking at their catalogs they definetly cater to northern fish species like pike, walleye, trout, salmon, smallmouth bass (i know some southern lakes have smallmouth).
i just hope the corporate big wig in charge of stocking the shelves pays close attention to what are the dominate species in southern lakes and orders fishing tackle that is appropriate. i would hate to go into the store in fort worth and see aisles of lures for pike, muskee, walleye... and only big name lures for bass and crappie and catfish...

These guys did not get to be as large as they are without knowing their target customer. They will hire Texans and the texans will keep them straight as to what kind of fish and game inhabit the lone star. Not to worry.

LSC....I read an article about Carp fishing in LoneStar Outdoors......I think that is the name, some guy had one from Austin that was a record.....pretty cool
Cabelas puts stores in this area where they get a majority of catalog business....a no brainer......so I would imagine they would have plenty of bass stuff....I would not worry too much.

as long as they stock some steelhead rods...Bass Pro doesn't...I'm wanting about a 9-10' MH casting rod...built like a heavy bass rod in both stiffness and action (fast action, fairly limber tip, but lots of backbone), except about 9-10' long...can't find anything suitable at Bass Pro.
No fish is too good for the grease.

Don't worry guys. Not only do they have local people and pros working with them that know the area, they rely on vendors alot too. Let me just say this. Make sure you get some garters, 'cause this place is gonna knock yer socks off. If this store don't light yer fire, your dadgum wood's wet.

I went to the store in Owatonna, MN several years ago and it was awesome. Even had a large selection of bass lures in MN. Too bad the new store won't be close enough to ge very often. It's probably a good thing though... I'd go broke.

My only concern is that it is 11 minutes from my house--I'm going to need a second job.

McDaniel,
The store in Owatonna is how far South of the Twin Cities? I ask as I will be up there soon and before the one opens here and I want to go pick something up that is on backorder with the catalog sales.
