Head down to the Hill Country, maybe near Austin, to fish those beautiful rivers. Or San Antonio to the Guadalupe River and the surrounding area.

The White and Norfolk Rivers are both accessible from Mountain Home, Ark and they are wonderful places to fish. Branson, Mo is only an hour away with all that great entertainment and trout fishing in the Taneycomo. The problem right now is their is no wading on the White and Norfolk Rivers because they are generating 24/7 at both dams. You can easily find a guide up there, just go to: www.flyfishingarkansas.com , go to the "forums" section and there will be several guides who post in there. John Wilson, who started and runs the forum, is one of the best guides around.

Good choice. I love the mountains in Arkansas. It isn't much cooler there though at this time of the year I don't think, is it?

Well if you start looking at Arkansas there is also the Little Red. That is supposed to be some good fishing and nice cool tail water even in August.

When you talked about fun stuff to do as well as fish I really did not know if there were such a thing in Arkansas.

Branson MO might be an option.

Arkansas does have hot springs with a lot of cool things to do, I believe they have horse racing & strippers, throw in a bottle of Jim Beam & what more do you need.

I second the White River/Norfork River in N. Arkansas.
Next choice would be the South Llano and Llano River at Junction, Tx.

If you want to stay close fish the Brazos river around Whitney.
