Wanted to share a quick report on our afternoon fishing trip. We got out around 4pm and had to stop at 7pm so didn't have alot of time to fish but still caught a bunch of sandies. Fished 3 different places and caught fish on all three places.

Started out by island but out toward main lake from island. Fish were scattered today but still managed to catch a bunch of singles and 3 doubles on my slab and jig rig. One of the doubles was especially fun since the fish were about 14" and put up a heck of a fight.

We started getting alot of undersized fish so decided to try a couple of different spots. Next one was the point right off a little cove towards the dam from Murell. Didn't kill them there but did find a few scattered fish.

Decided to head over to another good spot for us out from murell park cove. Fish were there too and we caught singles and even picked up a couple doubles.

For a short trip, we didn't do bad at all and the doubles make even smaller fish put up a good fight. The only downside about grapevine is the skiers are so rude that it really detracts from the fun of being out there. It is worst on weekends but even during the week, they are out and rude as ever.

Took the day off and did some much needed maintenance on boat and gear. Loaded boat and went to back up the jeep and "Click, Click, Click" and all gauges went nuts. Checked fuses and voltage on battery, all fine. Had to be a bad cell-new battery fixed all and now it's dark. Oh well, I'm glad to see you were out there to give the skiers someone to taunt. Thanks for the report.

hey Mack, sorry to hear about the boat stuff but glad you got it fixed without too much hassle. I need to put mine in the shop to have some motor maintenance done. Been holding off since it is summer and the boys want to fish as much as possible before school starts back.

The vine is definately in summertime conditions now. I've gotten into schooling sandies a bunch but the skiers always zip by and mess up the action.

Infamous, it is crazy but seems the only place we can find and work a nice surfacing school on grapevine without boats hassling us is right out in the middle. We have found fish surfacing out in the middle a few times now this summer and we never have other boats run thru and bust them up. However when we find them by island, murell or twin coves, boats seem to magically know when they start surfacing because they always buzz by within a minute or two. Oh and don't get me started about the dam area. I had one ski boat that decided they would do a 500 yard oval pattern and guess where I was fishing... yup, right in the middle of that oval. I don't even bother going to dam in summer. Just too crazy.

time to get the idiot repellent. Is it against the law to put some floating a few hundred yards around your boat. Kind of like a log buoy? that would be nice.

Old Rock,

I know what you mean. I was out there this past Thursday about 30-40 yards from shore by Murrell Park on a school. There was another boat about 50 yards to our left fishing the same school, and then some moron dragging his kids in a giant tube thought it'd be a good idea to make a pass in between us and the shore.

I was pissed about the fishing, but was more worried about his kids. There are all sorts of shallow spots and rock outcroppings along that shore.

I hear it is really bad on Ray Hubbard. Some people just have no courtesy.
