I have a MS 14-32 McCulloch chain saw. It ran and cut fine a week ago. Today, I can't get it to start.
*Carb filter clean *Getting spark to plug *Same gas I used last week...bought and mixed that day.
I follow the instructions of:
*pumping the bulb 10 times *locking the throttle handle to on position *making sure kill switch is in "run" position. *making sure chain safety is not locked *put choke in full choke and pull 4 times *put choke in half choke and pull 4 times *If it does not start, repeat procedure
I have done this several times today. I took the plug out and grounded it and checked for spark, getting spark. The plug was wet with gasoline.
I allowed the engine to dry out for 30 minutes or so, replaced plug and went through entire procedure again.....same results...not even a "hint" of starting.
I only have about 5 hours total run time on this saw.
So what do I try next? Any suggestions for a shadetree chain saw mechanic?
Thanks, Chuckwagon

I have had two of these saws and they did the same to me, if you could ever get them started once boy they would run and cut very well, but I have pulled on them until I ws give out and finally got rid of them. Talked to other people and they said the same thing about theirs too.

I found the problem! I was FLOODING it! After letting it sit for 3 or 4 hours, I pushed the prime button THREE times instead of ten. Went through the rest of the procedure and it started just like the manual said!!
I have ran it 6 or 8 times since with cold starts as well as warm starts and it starts every time with 3 pushes on the primer button!
Thanks for the responses.

I finally quit buying cheap saws a few years back. I now have an Echo and a Husqvarna. They are a pleasure to run and they always start easily. My old Homelite ran good once you got it started but boy was it finicky to start. I had an 026 Stihl for many years that was an outstanding saw.
