I hate it when a great spot is all grown over!
Have you guys tried overlining and roll casting? Just a thought.

it was so over grown i couldnt get near the water with my rod.. well we did get in salado creek and found one or two spots we could cast. but most of it had a canopy over the water. it was only 6'to 7' tall. so me 5'11" with a nine foot rod. i couldnt move it was bad. so i dont think we will be hitting the salado any more. unless you find something better. confused smile

A gator in the salado ha I knew it Ieven told texasdjl. Man I'm glad we stopped wading where we did before the water went to my pits. Yah the water had a little to much brush I was flipping my flys under trees with 2 feet of line out. That was as far as a cast could go.

So here we are at the normal spot and as I land another 7 pound bass on my 3wt. I hear something make a noise behind me. My fishing buddy spence has an interesting look on his face and half his rod is lying next to me. I look at the water and see a 7 foot gator coming at us. Aparently the fresh water land shark either wanted the fly or my fishing buddy and my buddy broke his rod trying to catch or run from the fresh water land shark.

Or maybe just maybe this is a slight exageration in a bad incident that ended with a broken 5wt and a new 6wt TFO. Im jealous now I have too get my TFO profesional 3wt setup. I like the rod bud now my buddy will have to learn to cast with a real fly rod.

p.s. the broken rod was a 50 dollar dicks combo, incase anyone was thinking about getting one.

I fish Leon creek on Lackland quite a bit. Lots of bass and bream in there. Also good sized carp, catfish and some huge tilapia. No fly rod fishing, but ultralight and occassionally light bass rods. I also used to fish Salado creek on Fort Sam Houston back in 94 when I was a kid. Lots of fish in there too. Gotta love the little creeks.
