Great info. I was outside the other day mowing the yard and felt the heat exhaustion come on. I had a severe headache for 6 hours. I need to lose about 25lbs. It sucks being forty. Took weight gain in high school just to maintain 165lbs. I weigh 215 now. Only took 20 years for the weight gain to work!LOL

My wife began using Stevia in the last year with great results. This is great advice - thanks.

WillieFindum, that's some good info to share.
Question: Since coffee with caffeine is a diuretic, do I need to drink more than the recommended daily intake of water to make up for the extra I'm losing because of the coffee? Is there a rule of thumb for how much extra water per x ounces of strong coffee. I often drink around 64 ozs of pretty stout coffee every morning.
thanks,...jon

Stevia is a plant from the sunflower family, it is about 300 times sweeter than cane suger. I use it in the powered form to sweeten, opps my coffee.

This is the way 'dead' sticking was invented! Cast lure into the water; pee; move lure; pee; move lure; catch fish.

I've heard the same things and admittingly, am the WORST about drinking plenty of water. So guess I need to drink 115 oz of water ,but sure hate to throw the Gatorade away for trips and yard work, but will do it if need be.

Thanks for the advice, Willie. I got some other 'things' to quit first, but maybe your advice will make it easier.

WillieFindum here,
Jon, From a nutritional point of view, the craving/need for caffeine and other stimulants is often a symptom of adrenal fatigue, sugar craving are generally linked to a slow functioning(congested)liver/gall bladder. However, those two statements are very general and any individual would need to be tested (surveyed) for specific needs.
Big_CatEM, Often with nutritional supplementation those other 'things' are easier to let go.
Nutrition is not only what you eat/drink, but how is your body benefiting or not from what you eat/drink . If not, what changes can be made to improve the situation. One example is what started this thread, getting hydrated. Reaching for water instead of a soft drink or a sports drink for some will be easy, for others it will be a hard row to hoe but worth it. (been there)
In my office, all of my patients are required to fill out a nutritional symptom survey (test). I use the survey as a bases for supplement recommendations. I find that patients who are getting good nutritional supplementation respond better, hold their adjustments and have fewer doctor visits.
My normal charge for the survey, compiling the results, and working out the recommendations is $75, for TFFers I will make it $40. That does not include any supplements.
If you just have a question or would like a survey, PM me at drbillhowell@sbcglobal.net be sure to mention that you are TFF.

Sounds like a good deal, Willie. I may just PM ya here soon and take ya up on it. My other 'thing' wasn't a drink, food, or alcohol (I rarely drink but a few beers a month if that watching a game due to my wacky rotating shift schedule and responsibilities these days).

I do take a men's mult-vitamin, Nexium, Vitamin C, and 1000 mg fish oil(just had another surgery for my paplinoma in my vocal chords this past Wednesday) every day, and drink alot of cranberry juice in the morning and eat salads when I can.

My vice is of the "tobacco" variety and been doing it for way too long. Once I get past that, get to eating/drinking more healty, and get a day job and work out more, things will improve I believe and I'll sleep/feel better. Stay tuned, you may get an appointment with me soon.

If you are not gong to the restroom every hour and a half everyday you are not taking in enough water...just learned this fact from my trainer....good way to judge without counting ounces when you are out on the water.....It really will help your whole body function better..Drink up boys....a bottle of water to every beer...then you can have fun and take care of yourself for those that love you...throw that Gatordae and diet drinks in the trash, that stuff will kill you....

not just another pretty face......

Be careful not to drink too much water....you can get "water poisoning"....

http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/128261/water_poisoning_the_dangers_of_drinking.html

Most doctors will tell you that you are drinking enough if your urine is almost clear. If it is dark yellow or cloudy, you aren't drinking enough.

1/2 ounce of water per pound of body weight if you are sedentary
2/3 ounce of water per pound of body weight if you are athletic
