I have a 1999 merc 225efi and was wondering...it seems(especially in summer) that it just isn't keeping up enough rpms. Sometimes it even stalls out. My motor is not all the way down either. There is plenty of room to see the tattle tail.

When did you last replace the plugs? If not recently, I'd start there.

Now, Donald...please pick John Bolton for your running mate.

I took my tech to a friend's house and had him adjust the idle on a 175 Merc. It was doing 650 and the tech set it for 850. It had a real problem of starting and dying before the adjustment.

While he was there he also changed the impellor, plugs and lower unit fluid.

NOW SHE PURRS.

Plugs are less than a year old but I will change them anyway!

on that efi, you have a throttle position sensor. it needs to be set by a technician with a DDT.
you can do it with the adjustment bolt, but you need to make sure the TPI is set correctly before messing with the bolt!!!!
