Fished Ray Hubbard today and while we were able to take the heat we hammered (15 to 20) Hybrid 8-10lbs and one striper, couple of small whites, and two large channel cats 8-10lbs (on slabs). Fished from around 9:30 until 1ish. Fished 26ft casting into 30+ burning slabs off the bottom on a burn/free spool back to the bottom retrieve. Some pics of the day. After this, our last bass fishing trip, and several trips catching specs under the lights in Galveston this past week, my son is ate up with it now.....I helped cast to avoid backlashes....he did the rest and had to rest after his second one:

Nice catch, your son looks like he is having a blast!!!

Did you get any pics of the 8-10 lb hybrids? Also, did you catch the catfish on slabs?

A lot of fisherman have been catching stripers, lately. I'm still waiting to catch my first one out of Hubbard. I guess I need to find some new spots smile

The two my son is holding are in the 8-10 range on a hand held digital... mine was a little smaller and we caught a few bigger. Caught the cats on slabs when they hit the bottom.

I like how your boy has got the slabs covered up holding the fish. thumb If you are still using the same ole from way back, I know what they are.... grin

Great pics, glad to know you are still around. Give me a shout next time out.

Hey dude. How have things been? Spur of the moment weekday trip with the son. May hit it again next Sat. You know the spot and the bait smirk He was not purposely covering the bait. It was all he could do to hold them for two seconds to get a pic. smile I can not do any camera magic with the iPhone, the first one was half the size of him and he is 4.5ft tall now. It was funny there were several boats in the area when we got there but they were not catching anything and they moved on shortly after. We pulled up and started hammering them on the first cast. That is a funny little spot....50 yards one way or another and nothing. Hey, you should have saw the bass I was catching on that bone colored top dog at Roberts. I had one right at 10 and a bunch in the 6-9 range back in early June. Main lake points around those dinky surface feeding whites. Give me a shout! cya
