After a couple weeks of long hours at work, I finally got off early so packed up boat and headed to grapevine to see what the sandies are up to. I should have known trip wasn't going to go well from the start. I put boat in water and fired up motor to let it idle while we all got ready to chase some fish. As I glanced back at the motor right before we headed out, I noticed boat was sitting lower in water than usual... DOH, drain plug out. Put it in and about 5 mins later had the bulk of the water pumped out. NOt a good start but wasn't about to give up that easy.

Idled out of the bay and before I revved up to make my run across lake I looked back at motor to check pee stream which was fine. However I looked at the sight window at the 2 stroke oil reservoir and it as just barely visible! Dang it, I was almost out of 2 stroke for the motor. I had maybe half an inch showing in the sight window which might have been fine for a few minutes of run time but I didn't want to chance it so had to modify our game plan.

We pitched at murell park and I wasn't going to make any long trips so we decided to just work the point and cove next to murell. I'd caught alot of fish there so thought we might still salvage a good trip. Picked up a couple real quick sandies on slabs and then the sandies started schooling in area but only small scattered schools. It was like a broken record... we would see a small school of fish and use the trolling motor to move in range. Might get a fish or two before boats or jet skies drove them back down. After a couple hours, we called it a night.

I guess everyone has an off day on the water now and agin so today was our turn.
