I have both---1 Accurist when they were like $50 on sale and 4 Citica's not on sale. They are both good reels, but I prefer the Citica's plus I know I can get parts if needed. Which is usually when I clean them and the old fat fingers drop something.

I would have to say for ease of use and cleaning the Shimanos are always a good decision. I have had accurists and they are a good reel for the money.
Shimano is still the way to go with all factors considered (IMO)

Of the 2 you mentioned the Citica for sure ... it'll be here with heavy use for years after you've thrown the Quantum in the garbage! Plus it'll perform ... especially the 100's!
Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it !

it'll be here with heavy use for years after you've thrown the Quantum in the garbage! the citica is far from bulletproof. Shimano may have fixed this problem now, but I had one with the levelwind defect that caused it to bind on one side of the worm shaft. I returned it after using it a month (and got one of my favorite rods, so thank you shimano). Otherwise it was very nice other than being the weight of a round reel (although the accurist is barely better). I have had many crappy quantums, but I've had an accurist 2 for about a month now and like it a lot. Especially considering it was on sale for $40. All that said, I think the Citica is a better reel than the Accurist, but the Accurist is much cheaper right now.
