We just got back from a trip to Shreveport. I haven't been to a casino in 4-5 years so we decided to go gambling/shopping for a small summer vacation. I booked a room at Sam's Town Casino for $35 a night earlier this summer and we had a great time. The rooms are huge and overlook the Red River.

Bass Pro is just across the river so I spent some time in there as well. We also went down to the the Red River South Marina that will host the Classic next Feb. Kind of cool that they are having the classic here!!

Got friends that fish the Red south of Shreveport and rave about the fishing. I live about 35 miles from the casinos and never been there. Guess I will have to plan a little trip. Which casino has the best/cheapest buffet? I won't gamble much if at all, but will go for the food.

The best buffet that I have had there was at the Horseshoe.

When I looked at the water at Red River South Marina, it just made you want to fish. Lily pads everywhere. It really looked fishy. I hope that I can make it back for the Classic. It would be nice to see all of the pro's on the Red River!!! I have fished the Red, but it was in the Alexandria pool where a buddy of mine lives.

Stayed at Red River South last year and loved it. The Red is awesome, can't wait to get back soon.

Since I've been back home, I've been talking it up with some buddies and it looks like we might make the trip to the classic on Feb. 20-22!!! Our bass club tournament is the week before so it won't conflict with any of our fishing!!

Yea, the locks are pretty strange to go through. A buddy of mine, Hydrosportsman on the TFF, lives down in Alexandria. We fish the Red down there frequently. We seem to always catch a lot of fish!! His family land sits on an oxbow lake that is open to the Red just south of the John C. Overton Lock and Dam #2.

Saw a news story that the city was having problem with foul tasting water but the water department promised to have it cleaned up soon.

I don't know, but if you are in Shreveport look up Superior Mexican Grill. Best Fajitas on the planet. Think it is on Line Avenue.

Also like to mention Herbie K's!!! Been around since the 30's!

Best flattened shrimp in the south. They have many articles in magazines claiming they have the best poboys around!

Was this a post about eating or fishing? LOL! My mind is on both!

Lakeguide,

Oh, it takes maybe two margaritas time! It's gets packed starting at Happy Hour.

Best margaritas I've had ANYWHERE!

Have you had the burger? Sounds weird for a Mexican food place, but the flavor over the grill is incredible!
