Well...I was planning my vacation to Port A starting this Thursday...With Dolly coming to town is it even going to be worth trying to fish? I was going to get into town this thursday and stay through next tuesday. I hate to be a wimp but I promised my kids a good time and i hate to keep them holed up in the house all week. Are the beaches even going to be worth the trip with the added water/surf?

Go for it man. It should help clean the beaches and be pretty good by the weekend. I'll be down there Sunday for the week with the wife and kids chasin trout down the beach. Let me know if you go and we'll try and hook up.

Like coastal said "GO FOR IT". I'm leaving Thursday for Port A. It looks like Port A is not going to get it too bad, I have my RV and boat down there and have been every weekend since the end of June. Have a good time. Saturday looks good

Looks like Dolly will stay far enough south and not affect Port A. I'll be down there Sun-Thur.

I'm heading down in the wee hours this Friday morning and staying 10 days. I'm not as concerned about the surf as I am about the bays being flooded with freshwater. In my experience, a big influx of freshwater in the bays makes driving to the areas I fish in the bay hazardous and pushes the reds and specks out to deeper water that is more difficult to wade.
I make it through the day by dreaming of my next trip to Port A.

Hey Bullit, We've kept our trailer at Island RV and our moving it to Marina- Beach behind Whataburger this weekend . Island RV has just been too crowded. Haven't been there since Mid June and got a real bad itch and this weekend and next week look pretty good. See ya on the sand Steven

I am heading down Monday AM too. Supposed to go off shore on the 30th. Hopefully I can find some trout and reds the other days, if not I'll sit on the beach and raise coors light stock

I was kind of curious myself, we are staying in a house down there starting tomarrow and staying through the weekend.
I wouldn't mind roughing it if the power was dead other than between the 2 fams going we've got 4 kids under 3 years old.
I'll be curious to hear from you guys that are already down there as to what it looks like when this mess is over.
The weather is here.....wish you were beautiful..

Umm...that's no good. Well the house we're staying in is right behind the dunes just off the beach and is on the ground level from what I can tell.
Guess we'll check tonight and see what it's really like before we head out. I called yesterday just to ask the people who run the place and they had absolutely nothing to tell me as far as well....anything. I asked about if they usually have an issue with power..they said they didn't know.
I asked about the ferry when it starts to run again...they said they didn't know.
If they usually were ok or if they had problems with water since the place is a little low...they didn't know.
Basically she couldn't tell me anything.
I just said that we'd call tonight and figure out how bad it actually looked.
The weather is here.....wish you were beautiful..
