Ever thought that guided trips were too expensive? Ever thought it would be nice to have the guide in your boat rather than his? Here's your chance. I'm offering these weeknight, evening "trips" in your boat on Grapevine for $100. I'll be at the ramp at 5:00 p.m. and we'll fish until you get bored, tired, or just tired of me. This is only for the rest of July and all of August. Once your license expires, so does this offer. Here's what I'll bring:2 Rod-Reel combos - 1 for topwater, 1 for slabbing 1 Tackle bag containing Humdingers, TNTs, Tag-Alongs, Jigum Jigs. 1 or 2 Drinks of my choice - water, gatorade, Dr. Pepper 1 Giant sized life jacket - for me. 1 Gerber Multitool 1 Me Oh...and my GPS. Here's what you bring:Your boat, you, whatever else you want and whoever else you want (try to limit this to 1 other person if you can) and a willingness to catch fish and maybe even learn something. Here's how it works:You email me at jeff@fishymemories.com (email is down right now for some reason ) or call me at (817) 319-1614 and tell me what day you want to go. I'll meet you on that day, at 5:00 p.m. at the Katie's Woods ramp. And you can kick me off at that same ramp whenever you get ready. Ya'll don't be shy now. Legal Disclaimer: blah blah blah...you know who you are...blah blah blah

Paying someone else to go fishing with you I knew someone would say that, and that's okay. This idea isn't right for everyone. But some people can't afford $275 for a "normal" guide trip. Some people want to be shown how to set up and/or interpret their graphs - not the guide's graphs. Some people want to know how to effectively position their boat over or around fish - and that's easier to show while in their boat. A half day guide trip - let's say 4.5 hours is running on average of $250. That's $56 per hour. This $100 for 3 plus hours is at the most $33 per hour. There's a whole bunch of reasons that this idea works. I'm certainly not the first one to do it.

Jeff, that's a brilliant idea.....how soon in advance would you need to know? My dad and I haven't ever fished the 'Vine but we're going to next week when I come down....If we have trouble finding fish I'd like to holler at you, but I don't know how much notice you need.

I think the idea of having someone who really knows their stuff on your boat isn't a bad idea. Especially for someone who is new to the lake and needs to learn some good spots or for someone who needs tips on fishing techniques for slabs, etc.

If we have trouble finding fish I'd like to holler at you, but I don't know how much notice you need. Starting next Monday, I will require at least 2 hour's notice. Call me by 3:00 and I'll see you at 5:00. Of course it doesn't hurt to book early. If I'm not booked, then I can work with only 2 hours notice. And they can bring beer if they want. I don't drink while I fish so it's a moot point to me. It's not my boat. And every single time I've done this in the past, I've ended up running the trolling motor for the majority of the day. Some people get this. Others don't. That's okie dokie with me.

I think that you should have mentioned that in your original post. When I first read your post it sounded alot like "pay me $100 and I'll fish with you" kind of post. Yes, it has guided trip in the title, but still didn't mention much of what all you get with that $100. P.S. I knew what you meant. Thats why I made the post that I did so that you would clarify a little more I too think that it's a good idea.

You're right. Now that I read the original post, it does sound like that. Which is a great gig if you can get it too. But not what I intended. Thanks for making me clarify. I should have done that originally. Graph setup & interpretation Bait selection Bait presentation Boat position Question & Answer (what, where, when, why, how) Other equipment use Location, location, location

Wouldn't mind having a LL guide in our boat, but I'm worried they might learn too much for the money I pay them. Your gas, your boat, your rods, my intel I've thought about this as well. It does sound great for the guide and the "guests"

I have never fished with Jeff, but I have read many of his posts here on TFF. He knows his stuff and is always willing to share and give advice.
Pay $100.00 and learn to catch limits for the rest of the summer - sound like a good deal to me.
I would bet he knows Grapevine as well as anyone.

I'll just say anyone can catch fish when they are boiling the surface but reality is they are not always that easy. Grapevine has great sand bass fishing but plenty of days, the fish are tough to find and even tougher to catch. Nothing wrong with paying for pro help and $100 seems reasonable if the person really is an expert on a lake.
Frankly, I am suprised more guides don't consider that option. Seems like a great way to fill an unused afternoon without having to drag boat out, etc. To make things even more useful, maybe list what depth finders you are experienced with since that is one area alot of us could probably use a little coaching on. I know my depth finder could sure use tweaking. Works great as GPS to mark spots and shows structure fine but mine is worthless at anything but idle speed.
