 Try loofah gourd sponge to keep punch bait on!

My Granddad was forever trying to find something to keep punch bait on better and I think I found it. Been cutting up natural loofah gourd sponge that you find in the cosmetic section at Wal-Mart - cut into 1/4" squares and slipped over treble hook. Loofah expands a little and the bait really seeps into all the fibers of the sponge and hangs on tight.

sounds good for dip bait, but i wouldnt us with a punch bait, you dont need it

sounds good for dip bait, but i wouldnt us with a punch bait, you dont need it Haven't used with a dip bait - strictly punch - DK, JPigg, Big Marvs. The punch bait has stayed on fairly well with bare hooks but with the loofah I can really keep a big glob on the hook even after bites and reeling in - less bait flying around on casts, etc. Besides the loofah is cheap and it doesn't take long to rig up some hooks. My Granddad always liked using dip baits - even made his own cheese bait once - I need to try it out on some and see how it works. Anybody got a favorite dip bait?
