I want to try Eisenhower State Park sometime this week, and before I drive up there, I wanted to know if there are any good places to fish from the bank. Any recommendations?
Also, where can one purchase larger minnows in the North Texas/ DFW Metroplex area? Once, I found some larger goldfish for sale at a WalMart that just coincided with a flathead fishing trip I was taking when I lived near the Tennessee River (the bait shop ran out of shiners). (cross-posted)

Eisenhower is a nice park. But because it is on bluffs, I don't think there is much lake access at all.
As far as bait, anywere around a major lake there will be bait stores. I don't know exactly where around Lavon, Ray Hubbard, or Grapevine, but Lake Dallas has several in the Lewisville area.

It's rough going at Eisenhower, I was just out there in mid-June. Most spots are only accessible by boat, lots of sheer rock faces around. I found an ok spot near the Fossil Ridge Camping area. If you look at the map (just above the two deer), you'll see the Fossil Ridge Camping area and a trail that runs to the right and then down to the lake. If you take that trail down to the lake, there are some rocks that go out beyond the shore (and around the corner if you dare to climb around). The water appeared to get deep pretty quickly off those rocks. I saw quite a few fish in the area and saw some good sized ones caught there as well (I unfortunately didn't stick around long as I had kids & wife with me and it was like 1,000 degrees that weekend). Plus if you get hot, you can take a seat on the rocks and drop your feet in the water.
We weren't big fans of Eisenhower as there isn't really an easy way to get down to the lake, or around the park for that matter. You essentially have to drive everywhere or walk miles to get around. I picked a campsite that *looked* like it was right on the water, but there was so much vegetation between us and the lake, couldn't get down there. Literally had to go 1.5 miles to get to the water.
There are always the fishing piers too, one was closed off, others looked ok.

Go around to Catfish Bay (campground)in OK. Much more fishable from the bank.
