Here are a few photos from my trip to fish the Red River out of Alexandria, LA. I caught a lot of fish on buzzbaits just all around 2 lbs. Never caught a big bass. Was a fun trip and got to fish some new water. Was kind of weird passing barges and tugs in a bass boat though! My nephew with a nice Red River bass... A large turtle of some type I found hung in a trotline... The flippers and braid manufacturers dream!!! I did catch two fish out of this... I caught this spoonbill on a jig! When it came shooting up like a tarpon after hooking it this West Texas boy didnt know what the heck he had gotten into. I had never seen one of these!!! About 4ft gator that followed me around for over an hour...

Did the spoonbill eat the jig, or did you snag it on accident?

It ate the jig...out on the end of a wing dam. Just picked it up and went to running. Had it hooked right in the top of the mouth. When I set the hook my first thought was huge bass...then it stripped drag going out into the current so I got to thinking it was a big catfish (had already caught a few cats on shakey heads)...then when it jumped i didnt know what the heck it was! Had to check for teeth when I got it up to the boat before bringing it in. JR
