Is that ol crappie barge still theyre we use to kill them fish in the cracks! Nope, it got torn down long ago. Jerry, the owner there, had a pretty good grill. Those hamburgers and sandwiches w/ beer or wine back in the day were a plus to that fishing bar. Not to mention how good fishing it was in such beat up barge & thru the cracks. Occationally, they had big fish fry free for everyone... As much fish as I have eaten from that lake before they banned the consumption, I should be dead by now....:) Who knows how long it got contaminated before they decided to put a consumption ban on it.

well i have eaten them from there before and guess what?, as of yet i have not begun to glow at night...LOL...i know a few that have eaten them for yrs and they don't glow either. from what i hear u would have to eat 5 or more pounds a week before any thing happens and i believe that no one ever eat that much crappie in a week. lake worth has some of the biggest crappie there is. and if they were that bad why has the corp not closed the lake if itss that bad of a fishiery. and also if the water is full of PCP why not vlose it to all boating?

Sad to see him go. Good place to eat and talk fishing. If I was to eat anything from that lake it would be crappie. PCB's tend to collect in the fat of fish. older catfish get it the worst. Hope they get it cleaned up soon, its the best crappie lake around (or at least used to be).

I would follow the TPWD advisory and not eat the fish from lake worth. PCB's are not a bacteria so hot grease will have no effect. http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/publications/annual/fish/consumption_bans/Crappieman 1940, it is not glowing that you have to worry about but chronic effects of PCB exposure over time. To each his own but I would start following the TPWD advisory.
