When is the next tournament after this one? It will be on Lewisville next month. anybody have any idea approximately when take-off (safe light) will be? We are hoping to release the boats at 6am. Team Darkness will be there.

I'm wanting to hear results too. I was out there but went to murell park to launch only to learn they don't open till 6am so missed the sign up By time we got out on water there were already alot of boats out so looks like there must have been a good turnout. Winds were up and I hate to try to fight the wind with my tracker so we decided to try places that are protected. Did pretty good at island but lots of smaller fish. When water started whitecapping, we packed it in. Will look forward to seeing how everyone else did. Oh we probably caught 30 sandies before we called it quits but only 6 of them were of any real size so we wouldn't have been any threat to place high.

With six keeper sandies you would have taken 2nd place.
Really tough day out today.

The fishing was really hard or at least for some of us. Team Bronco won and we did not even weigh fish since he was the only one with a limit of fish.
Second was taken by Team Dances with Quail and three fish.
We had 5 good keepers but I did not enter the tourney.
Lots of undersize fish. Tourney was won in deep water.

I have to agree conditions were tough with the winds today. We ended up starting late thanks to the 6am open at murell park. We also called it quits early. Lake started whitecapping by 10am and I hate fighting those big waves. Will be curious to hear the official results of the tourney.

Mando, Any idea if it was the wind that kept everyone out of deeper water, or was everyone looking for that topwater bite?
I'm just curious if it was tough conditions or if the bite just wasn't there.
Thanks. Wind looks tough from my store front. I'm sure the on-the-water experience is much worse.

Lake grapevine can get rough too. All of the boat traffic didn't help it out.

holy cow, I thought you were joking. Sounds like we would have actually taken 2nd place. We had 6 keepers and two of them were actually good sized ones.

Jeff, we saw some boats trying the deep water spots but the waves would make feeling a bite very tough. We didn't even try it in deep water. We got all ours in the coves and shoreline sheltered from wind.

Thanks. Wind looks tough from my store front. I'm sure the on-the-water experience is much worse. Jeff it was good in the morning on the middle of the lake I must have thrown 8-10, 10-11 inch sandies back then it dawned on me that it may cut off. So we started keeping some but, I was not in the money game I just needed some whole unfilleted fish for a needy family in the hood. The fish were chasing ghost minnows in the heavy wind but they were not real eager to take the bait and would leave really fast. Aside from the wind the rec boaters were out in full force by 9am and were all holed up against the south banks. There were even folks Ski-Dooing in Meadowmere Cove or Dove Creek. There was one handsome clown that moored his 30 foot Cris Craft (sp) the dock and it was still there when we left. That aside we did see a Grapevine policeman validating parking permits and keeping a close eye on the ramp situation.
