This last weekend made me realize how fortunate I am and how a second could change anyones life.

My wife was pulling a tube in a boat other than mine (wont do it) and had the tube rope snap and come straight back at the boat...hitting her directly in the face. Broke her maui jim sunglasses into pieces, the glasses dug into her nose (not her eye)gave her two black eyes and a black and blue face...very easily could have put out her eye.

First the rope had a double knot in it first of all and second it was too small to be towing the tube it was towing.

My reason for posting this is I know how quickly I stop to help when I see someone in trouble. BE CAREFULL when trying to help...you may be hurting someone if you dont have the correct equipment to tow. Get a sold rope, secure it completely and take your time so as not to over torque...we got lucky, by wife still gets to look at my ugly butt!

Wow..... We're glad too hear everyone is alright.. man that's lucky she wasn't hurt worse...
Advise taken... I had the same thing happen to me towing a boat in rough water once, it hit the cowling and not us.. Good thing,
sounds pretty bad.

Thanks for the heads up!!! Glad your wife is ok

Reminds me of a time I thought I killed my step dad. I was pulling the top cap of a rock crusher off with a track hoe when the chain snapped, whipped around and hit him across the forehead....I thought he was done! luckly all it did was draw a little blood, didn't even need stiches.

we had a 19 year old male out at lewisville had the tow rope get around his arm out at big sandy sunday. needless to say he was taken to the hospital with a broken arm.

the sad thing is the people that were trying to back the truck into the lake had no clue what they were doing. they attempted backing in like 6 times. finally after seeing enough, I pulled the drive out and I did it myself.

poor boy...I can not imagine what a chain would do after seeing what a knot in a rope did to my wife.

Any kind of tow has to be as or more dangerous than pulling a tube...a chain, rope, hose whatever...be careful!

Freaky for sure. Just so thankful that she is ok

Be careful and thanks to everyone for the well wishes...she is icing and counting her blessings.
