Hello Everyone,
I'm going to be looking into getting a guided trip for my Dad and I here in the next few months. I'm pretty new to striper fishing so I'm looking for advice on a good guide. I'm down in San Antonio, but anything in the Austin, Houston, or Dallas areas would work for us.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

There are a lot of lake choices in the areas you mention. Texoma, Tawokani, Whitney, PK, Travis, Buchanan, Canyon, and a few I'm probably missing. If you could narrow down the lake choices, someone could probably give you a better recommendation on guides. There are a few here on the board who'd come highly recommended.
I'd be no help in referring you to any of them, as I've never used a guide for anything but Offshore fishing, and once on Beaver Lake in Arkansas. But many here will chime in on who's best on a given lake.

I could do Tawakoni for ya. If you look at the tourney post you would get a good idea of the size of fish being pulled now. Might be the best lake for size.

One thing to know is whether you are more interested in big fish or lots of action. If action is what you are after, lots of lakes can work. If you want to go for a trophy size striper, the number of choices goes down.

Thanks for the replies everyone.
At this point I'm just looking to get out to the lake and catch some fish. Trophy sized would be nice, but that's not all I'm after. White bass and Hybrid Stripers would be good too.
As for which lake, I really don't have a preference. I will go to where the best lake/guide services are for the price.
Thanks again,
-Bruce

Ken Milam at Buchanan www.striperfever.com I usually go 2-4 times a year with friends and have always done good with Ken or his other guide Rusty.
